ENDURE DYNAMIC WATERS
The SSQ-101B is a NATO A‑size sonobuoy engineered for the U.S. Navy and built to deliver commandable passive search capability. It is manufactured to rigorous military standards and provides dependable performance for ships and aircraft conducting underwater surveillance.
Twenty-Six Defense Maritime, a Twenty-Six Defense company, is a world leader in the design, development, testing and production of complex electromechanical systems and sensors, including Sparton sonobuoys. The company delivers a variety of sensing and advanced analytics capabilities that enable our nation to dominate the maritime domain.
Empower Every Decision
When deployed, the SSQ-101B uses a horizontally oriented, pentagon‑shaped pattern of forty hydrophones to detect and beam‑form underwater sound. Each hydrophone’s analog output is digitized, serialized, and beam‑formed within the buoy, then transmitted through a minimum five‑watt FSK‑modulated radio link. Bearing accuracy is strengthened by a high‑precision digital compass. The buoy includes Electronic Function Select for pre‑launch configuration and a UHF Command Function Select downlink.
